I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth, Environmental and Geographic Sciences in the Faculty of Science at UBC Okanagan. I am currently the chair of the Geospatial Information Sciences program and teach GISC 380 and GISC 381 (Fundamentals of Geographic Information Science I & II). I am also a member of the Okanagan Institute for Biodiversity, Resilience, and Ecosystem Services and the Center for Environmental Assessment Research.

Prior to joining UBC Okanagan in 2018, I earned my Ph.D. at the University of Victoria working with Dr. Chris Darimont and Dr. Trisalyn Nelson. During my M.Sc. and Ph.D., I was fortunate to work with the fRI Research Grizzly Bear Program. Prior to grad school, I worked as a wildland firefighter with the wildfire rappel program in Alberta and Parks Canada, and as a Conservation Officer with Parks Alberta.

My research has focused primarily around statistical modelling, GIS, and remote sensing for understanding how wildlife populations and ecosystems are responding to humans and changing disturbance regimes. Mostly, I enjoy mentoring and working with students who are keen to better understand the world around us.
